Most Americans say yes to deportation of illegals – survey

Sixty percent of US citizens are claiming that the federal government is not being aggressive enough in their efforts to deport illegal immigrants out of the country, according to a new public opinion poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports.

A whopping majority of survey takers made it clear that the government should display more assertion in deporting immigrants of illegal status. Just 29 percent of those surveyed, out of the 1,000 who participated in the telephone poll, want the government to stop deporting illegal immigrants until Congress pushes an immigration reform initiative through.

Still, 14 percent believe the US is just too aggressive in the way they deport illegal aliens while 16 percent agree that the number getting shipped out of the country for their unlawful status is on target. Most of the Americans who took part in the poll hope for a protected border before any sort of pathway is made for illegal immigrants who want US citizenship.

Only a small portion, about 19 percent, claim that people who are already in the US illegally should be given legal status instantly. On the other hand, 64 percent only think such legalization should happen if the borders are safe and secure. Not everyone had a sound opinion in the poll as 17 percent of individuals were unsure of what should happen with illegal immigrants living in America.
