Donald Trump proposes “execution” for Edward Snowden

миллиардер Дональд Трамп

Eccentric billionaire and politician Donald Trump believes that extradition procedures and court proceedings take too long. He also believes that waiting for a long time to “get back Edward Snowden” would be damaging to the national security of the United States. Does he have a solution? Yes he does and it is “a thing called execution”.

It has been speculated that the billionaires leave in a different reality, where the rule of law doesn’t exist. Donald Trump proves this theory by publicly suggesting an extrajudicial killing of Edward Snowden because normal extradition process will “take too long”. The tycoon is so concerned about the “thousands of people with access” to secret materials that he thinks the US must send a strong signal that would deter other whistleblowers.

In his interview with Fox News, Trump lambasted the journalists who published the documents provided by the NSA whistleblower. He labeled the whole story “disgraceful” and said that the press shouldn’t have published the details of the government’s surveillance operations.

Donald Trump has a solution for the problems generated by Edward Snowden. Somehow he believes that trying to bring him to justice in a legal fashion would be disgraceful. “We have to get him back and we have to get him back fast. It could take months or it could take years, and that would be pathetic”, he told Fox News. Trump’s proposal involves no legal proceedings: “this guy’s a bad guy and, you know, there’s still a thing called execution”. Extrajudicial killing are a common practice in the US but assassinating such a high profile target would surely make America look pathetic and will spark global outrage. Donald Trump is concerned that Edward Snowden “is becoming a hero in some circles”. If Snowden is killed by the US forces, as the billionaire suggests, then he will be much more than a hero. He will become a martyr, a “patron saint” of whistleblowers. Maybe, his assassination will be a deterrent for some of the people working for NSA or CIA, but America will forever lose the possibility to claim “high moral ground” in international relations. Actually, the US has lost most of its moral authority due to wars in Iraq, Libya and Syria, but killing Snowden would make the US a pariah of the civilized world.
