Berlusconi won’t participate in new government

Сильвио Берлускони италия

Italy’s former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who is now the leader of the country’s right-of-center forces, has ruled out his participation in the country’s new government.

“President Giorgio Napolitano wants many posts in the new government to be occupied by young people and women,” Mr. Berlusconi said. “I won’t take part in such a government.”

On Wednesday, President Napolitano ordered one of the leaders of the Democratic Party, Enrico Letta, to form a new government.

It is expected that besides representatives of the Democratic Party, the new government may include members of the party “People of Freedom”, which is headed by Mr. Berlusconi, and supporters of the outgoing President Mario Monti.
