Internal Syrian opposition is open for talks with the leadership of the National Coalition, said Qadri Jamil, chief of the People's Will party and Popular Front for Change and Liberation, on the heels of today’s meeting with Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov.

Mr. Jamil said his party favoured a peaceful approach and would welcome opposition’s decision to give up their hopes of solving the Syrian conflict through foreign invasion and violence.

He didn’t wish to go into detail on opening proposals for a nationwide dialogue that internal opposition activists had brought to the Moscow negotiating table, but said they were “practical and concrete.”

Syria's political opposition arrived in Moscow to discuss peace settlement

Representatives of Syria's political opposition arrived in Moscow to discuss the situation in their country, which has been torn apart by an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad that began in March 2011. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil, leader of the People's Will party, and National Reconciliation Minister Ali Haidar, leader of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

Haidar said previously in an interview with Voice of Russia radio that the delegation has brought concrete proposals to Moscow for the resolution of the Syria crisis.
