Belgium jails citizen for tearing Koran

A court in Bruges, Belgium has sentenced a local citizen to four months in prison for having torn a copy of Koran in front of a group of Muslims.

According to local media, the fact that he was practically provoked to do so did not save him.

He exchanged words with a group of Muslims at a café, and Muslims threw the sacred book at his head, which provoked his action. He tore the copy into two parts.

The judge, who announced the verdict, described the action as a “very dangerous violation of the law”.

He was also fined 600 euros.
