Telecommunications briefly disrupted by magnetic storm

After six weeks of calm, global telecommunications have been briefly disrupted by a moderate magnetic storm, caused by a gust of solar wind reaching the Earth’s atmosphere.

Solar wind is a stream of electrically charged particles hitting the Earth at about 600 kilometers a second.
