US reducing war ships in Persian Gulf

The U.S. military command has decided to leave only one aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.

For the last two years there has always been at least two in the region.

The main reasons for the change are cuts to the military budget.

Currently the U.S. Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier "John Stennis" is in the Persian Gulf but it is to be replaced by the "Dwight D. Eisenhower", arriving at the end of the month.

Previous plans to send the aircraft carrier "Harry Truman" to the region were canceled.

U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf supposedly ensure the safe transportation of oil in the region and at the same time put military pressure on Iran.
