John Brennan to answer on US drone use

White House homeland security adviser John Brennan is to answer new questions about the US using drones to target American nationals suspected of terrorism tomorrow when he appears before a Senate committee considering his nominations as CIA chief.

The White House said President Obama’s drone program was legal,” “ethical” and “wise.” However Sen. Angus King, a member of the Senate Armed Forces and Intelligence committees, asked for a profound review of the target-killing program, saying that “the use of lethal force against Americans is a serious and significant issue that deserves paramount attention.”

The hearing comes amid rising concerns of using drones on the US terrirory. A group of US Senators approached President Obama this week, warning that secrecy around the drone program might prove an obstacle to John Brennan’s confirmation to serve as CIA director.
