No 'soft journalism' for Radio Liberty

No 'soft journalism' for Radio Liberty

The employees of the Radio Liberty Russian Service have declared that their radio station lost its popularity in Russia over recent years due to slipping into ‘soft journalism’ and called the management to correct this mistake.

They wrote an open letter to the US Secretary of State, the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) in the US government and the new head of the radio station Kevin Klose.

The letter reads that the management moved the principle of protecting human rights to the background in favour of ‘soft journalism’ convenient to the authorities.

The journalists were made redundant for allegedly rejecting new technologies. However, the journalists and multi-media experts stressed in their letter that they were the first to support the introduction of digital technologies at Radio Liberty.
