Pyongyang calls for better ties with Seoul

In an apparent overture to the incoming South Korean President, North Korea’s National Defense Committee said in a statement on Wednesday that relations between the two countries remained uncertain, just as they were five years ago and urged the southern neighbor to reconsider its policy towards the North.

Analysts link the call for making a "choice between confrontation and peace" to a recent address by North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un

For its part the South Korean Foreign Ministry urged Pyongyang to make “wise and correct decisions” that would have in mind the interests of its neighbors.
