2 Iranian warships dock in Port Sudan

Two Iranian warships have docked in Port Sudan. Iran’s first two naval ships docked there in late October.

According to the Iranian media, the visit had been prompted by the need to hand over a message of friendship to the nearby state, as well as to ensure secure navigation, given pirates’ activities in the area.

But observers also point out that the arrival of Iranian warships is most likely linked to the recent blasts at the weapons factory in the environs of Sudan’s capital Khartoum.

The incident occurred shortly before the arrival of the warships.

Sudan has officially said that the blasts came in the wake of an Israeli air raid, but the Jewish State has rejected the accusations.
