No prospects for resolving U.S. missile defense issue - Medvedev

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev sees no prospects for resolving the problem of U.S. missile defense. This opinion was expressed by the Prime Minister in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant.

"There are some issues on which Russia and the U.S. do not see eye to eye, and the European missile defense system is one of them. No matter who is at the helm in Russia, our position is unlikely to change," said the politician.

At the same time, Medvedev believes that in recent years a good deal has been achieved in Russian-American relations. In particular, a new agreement signed on reducing offensive armaments, settlement of visa issues, and intensified cooperation in the sphere of economy.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that Moscow and Washington would continue mutually beneficial cooperation.
