New ISS crew approved

A Russian state commission has approved the main and backup crews of a new expedition to the International Space Station, news reports said on Monday.

The new crew comprises Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Yevgeny Tarelkin and NASA astronaut Kevin Ford.

The backup crew includes Russian cosmonauts Pavel Vinogradov and Alexander Misurkin and NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy.

Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft with the new crew on board is scheduled to lift off from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan on October 23.
