USSC rules: reimburse Indians
The U.S. Supreme Court has ordered the government to reimburse American Indians for expenditures on public services, including education, environmental protection and security.
Reimbursement to the Indian tribes for social programs is provided for by federal law. However, for several years Congress has not allocated enough money for the needs of the Indians, depriving them of hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to the court’s decision the costs of the Indian tribes, including the Navajo, shall be reimbursed in full.
