NASA has launched five rockets from a space center on Wallops Island, Virginia, that are part of a study of the upper level jet stream.

The experiment is to help scientists learn more about the jet stream, which is located 60 to 65 miles above the Earth's surface.

Having reached the height of 80 km, the rockets released a chemical tracer to form white clouds, thus allowing scientists and the public to see the winds.
