Russia will seek official EU status for Russian language
Russia will be urging the EU to grant the Russian language official status, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
"Russian should be recognized as a state, regional or official language everywhere where Russian people reside in large numbers," - he wrote in his article "Russia's Foreign Policy: being a leader is profitable," to be published in "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" on Wednesday.
"We will work to render the Russian language official status in the EU, populated by several million Russian-speakers," - said Rogozin.
He also confirmed that Russia in general would continue to monitor observance of the rights and interests of Russians residing abroad.
