9 people buried under debris in Astrakhan
Nine people may be blocked under the debris of the nine-storey apartment building in the city of Astrakhan in Russia’s Volga region, Igor Yestavyev, a representative with the local department of the Emergency Ministry.
He said that 17 people had been evacuated and six people had been taken to hospital.
The people who became homeless will be temporarily accommodated in a neighboring school. They will receive food, warm clothes and psychological aid, he said.
On Monday, one of the sections of a nine-storey apartment building in Astrakhan collapsed as a result of a gas explosion. The rescuers are exploring the debris.
