Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi rediscovered
After centuries of neglect, a painting of Jesus Christ has been identified as Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi. Up until now, the world only knew about 15 existing Leonardo da Vinci’s paintings. It's a discovery so rare, so unlikely, that when New York art dealer and da Vinci expert Robert Simon of Robert Simon Fine Art first saw the painting, he didn't even consider the possibility. He says they knew the painting existed from more than 20 copies of the painting that have survived. However, what they lacked was the painting itself.
