In North Korea preparations are underway for the elections to the regional governments slated on July 24. In the result of the election the line-ups of the provincial, regional and municipal governments will be defined. On the Saturday, the lists of the candidates were published.

North Korea lacks a pre-election race because every city, region and province nominates only one candidate. 

The election campaign is aimed mainly on ensuring the maximum turnout. In 2007, the turnout at the elections was 99.82% voters.
