More Russian fairy characters said to hail from Kirov

Russia’s Kirov Region has been recognized as the “homeland” of the folk take characters Alyonushka and her brother Ivanushka.

Russia’s Kirov Region has been recognized as the “homeland” of the folk take characters Alyonushka and her brother Ivanushka.

Thus, the village of Ryabovo, where the estate of Russian painter brothers Viktor and Apollinari Vasnetsovs was situated, will be from now on considered to be the native village of these two characters, author of the “Fairy Map of Russia” project Alexei Kozlovsky told Interfax.

 Earlier, the city of Kirov was recognized as the motherland for Kikimora, a female house spirit in Slavic mythology.
