NATO ships have intercepted a boat packed with explosives near the Libyan port of Misurata. The military concluded that it was intended to be blown up when approaching ships or vessels. Around a ton of explosives and 2 dummies were found on board. Previously it was reported that Gaddafi forces were dropping anti-personnel mines in the vicinity of the port.

Battles for Misurata between government troops and rebel forces have been raging since spring. Gaddafi forces besieged the town, with humanitarian aid coming in only from the sea.

A few days ago, the rebels established full control over Misurata.
