Bushehr reactor to be emptied
The Russian contractors on the Iranian nuclear electricity project in the Gulf port of Bushehr say they will have to remove the nuclear fuel from the pilot reactor.
The decision follows a fault developed by a Western-supplied pump. The pump was installed in the 1970s, long before Iran invited Russia to complete the Bushehr plant.
Under their contracts, the Russian companies on the project have no right to dismantle such technology.
After fixing the problem, they will reload the Bushehr reactor.
