Russia supports UN General Assembly resolution on Kosovo

Moscow supports the UN General Assembly resolution on Kosovo and stands for resuming the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The Russian Foreign Ministry declares that the legal basis for solving the problem should be the UN Security Council resolution 1244 envisaging a wide autonomy for Kosovo inside Serbia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry declares that the legal basis for solving the problem should be the UN Security Council resolution 1244 envisaging a wide autonomy for Kosovo inside Serbia.

On Thursday the UN General Assembly unanimously approved Belgrade’s initiative to resume peace talks with the EU as intermediary.

Putting forward this initiative, the Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic stressed that his country considers Kosovo Serbian territory and will never recognize its independence.
