In recreational fishing, it is considered an accomplishment to catch a salmon shark, but commercial fishermen view it as a nuisance as it consumes their catch and can damage gear.
Russian fishermen in the city of Magadan, located in the Far East, caught a salmon shark that according to their estimates weighs about 150kg. The men said the salmon shark wound up in their net because it was following a chum salmon that they caught before. The fishermen said they were able to get the shark out of the water with the help of teenagers who were walking along the shore.
