The Scottish-born actor and comedian received his award at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, October 31 after being recognized in the Queen's birthday honors.
A former shipyard worker, Sir Billy, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, paid tribute to his worldwide army of fans, saying:
"I've been in trouble a lot because of things I've said and language I've used and they have stuck by me all the way."
