The oceans are at times full of mysteries as mesmerising as they are terrifying, and this could easily be said of a giant barrel jellyfish spotted in the waters near England.

Biologist Lizzie Daly has posted a video on her Facebook account showing an enormous yellow barrel jellyfish that she encountered while diving off the coast of Cornwall in the UK. The marine creature, with a domelike head and eight tentacles, was almost equal in size to Lizzie herself.

The curious creature was caught on camera as Daly and her companion, underwater cinematographer Dan Abbott, were filming videos to help raise money for the UK Marine Conservation Society by presenting the oddities that can be found in the depth of the sea.

This barrel jellyfish is the largest jellyfish species found in British waters. These animals are quite rarely seen, so Daly and Abbot could consider themselves quite lucky.
