On August 12, Russia celebrates Air Force Day. Sporting a wide assortment of military aircraft, this branch of the Russian military remains ever-vigilant, ready to take on any enemy that threatens the country's borders.

Military aviation continues to fulfill a very wide range of tasks: guarding and patrolling the country's skies; transportation of troops, weapons and military equipment. In addition, Russian Air Force crews are regularly involved in special tasks, for example, air patrols, evacuation of victims as a result of emergencies and natural disasters, large forest fires and many other tasks.
