The Romanian town of Comanesti hosted a traditional annual ‘bear dance’ parade ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The parade’s participants, dressed in bear skins, marched across town, dancing to the sounds of drums and flutes. Men, women and children took part in the procession. The parade also doubles as a ritual of sorts, meant to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck in the coming year.
