The little animal couldn't get out from the hole in the Nilgiri mountains in western Tamil Nadu, India, but a team of rescuers came to his rescue just in time.

To get the elephant out, the locals had to use an excavator. The entire rescue operation lasted about five hours. After that, the animal was released back into the wild.

The Nilgiri is considered to have the largest number of Indian elephants in the world, with a population of about 10,000 individuals.
