Massive Landslide Strikes Swiss Village
17:00 GMT 24.08.2017 (Updated: 18:12 GMT 09.01.2023) A devastating landslide hit the village of Bondo in Switzerland, on the border with Italy, leading to the evacuation of over 100 local residents. Up to 14 people were reported missing following the disaster; a search for them is underway, according to local police.
The landslide sent mud, rocks and dirt to the foot of the village, destroying buildings, cutting off a main road and causing the area to be engulfed in floodwater.
