According to local media reports, it claimed the lives of 19 people and injured over 260 others, leaving dozens in a critical condition.
Thousands of tourists were evacuated from the area, the prefecture's authorities said. Russia's Emergencies Ministry expressed condolences to China and offered the assistance of Russian rescuers in dealing with the aftermath of Tuesday's earthquake in Sichuan province.
