"It is going to be one more club member for us, and probably the most faithful one because it's here 24 hours a day," joked Roberto Garcete, the president of the football club. The centenary tree grew at the construction site of the new arena. It was decided not to cut it down during the construction of the stands. The tree is the same age as the club which celebrates a 100 year anniversary this year.

A tree has become an official supporter of Paraguayan FC Resistencia based in Asuncion. Just like any other member, it has received its own club membership card and a club shirt during a ceremony which took place at the Resistencia's stadium on August 6.
