For the first time in modern history, St. Petersburg hosted Russia's largest Navy Day parade, on July 30. Twenty-two warships sailed along the Neva River during the event. At the end of the day, a spectacular fireworks display capped off the event.

The annual celebrations to commemorate Russian naval victories are traditionally held on the last Sunday of July, with parades of the Pacific, Northern, Baltic and Black Sea fleets as well as the Caspian Flotilla.
