Aerial Footage Captures Whale Trapped in Labyrinthine Harbor

A humpback whale lost its way and accidentally got stuck in California’s Ventura Harbor on May 20.

The 10-meter-long juvenile humpback was swimming back and forth among boat slips, drawing public attention. Harbor Patrol and Coast Guard crews tried to lead the whale out of the docks using an underwater system that plays recordings of whale sounds. According to authorities, the animal found its way back to the ocean.
