Hang Tight Everyone: SpaceX Completes Pad Abort Test

Subscribe
SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft successfully completed the first flight test of the revolutionary launch abort system.

The Crew Dargon spacecraft is designed to carry astronauts to and from space. In this two minute demonstration, the Pad Abort Test simulates how Dragon would carry astronauts to safety if an emergency occured on the launch pad.

The spacecraft is shown as it is propelled into the air from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida by eight SuperDraco engines as they simultaneously ignite. After reaching a maximum velocity of 345 mph, the vehicles trunk is jettisoned and the spacecraft begins a slow rotation toward the ground again.
