Some people become very squeamish around insects, but none more so than this New York man. Scott Kemery, 44, set his entire car on fire to kill what must have been a god-awful number of bedbugs. In the process, he lit himself – and nearly the entire parking lot – ablaze.

"He said he had bedbugs in the car, and someone told him if he saturated them with alcohol, it would kill," Suffolk Police Arson Detective Sgt. Edward Fitzgerald told Newsday.

But that doesn’t explain why Kemery felt it necessary to toss a lit cigarette into the mix.

Investigators will have to ask him later. He’s currently being airlifted to a local hospital with second degree burns. Hopefully no spiders nested inside the helicopter.

The Magnificent Dance of the Laysan Albatross

The albatross is one of the largest birds on the planet - perhaps the most romantic seabird in the wild. The albatross has long been considered a good omen for sailors who see the birds as an auspicious sign, and some believe that albatrosses are the souls of dead sailors.
