The NASA High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment provides a stunning perspective on the typhoon that is moving towards the Philippines.

The “black hole” at the tropical cyclone’s center is the typhoon’s eye, a region that is 30-65 km in diameter, characterized by a low pressure. Whereas strong storms rage around this spot, the eye experiences moderate winds.
