The grandiose 24.5-meter monument stands atop of a building at VDNKh (All Russian Exhibition Center).
The statue was originally created by Soviet sculptor Vera Mukhina for the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris and then was moved to Moscow. It represents a sculpture of two figures holding a sickle and a hammer over their heads.
The sculpture is considered an outstanding example of the socialist realistic style as well as Art Deco.
The statue was removed for restoration in 2003 and returned to its place at VDNKh on November 28, 2009.
