NASA Lab Celebrates 5th Anniversary With Amazing Sun Video

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory just celebrated five years since it’s launch on February 11th 2010. The lab is responsible for monitoring the sun to fully understand its purpose as not only the closest star in our solar system, but also the source of all space weather. The video captures one frame every eight hours from when data became available from the lab in June 2011, finishing on February 8 2015.The different colors represent the various wavelengths (sometimes blended, sometimes alone) the SDO observes.
