This video shows the work of parachuting firefighters from the Aerial Forest Fire Center (Avialesokhrana), hundreds of whom risk their lives each year to put out forest fires – a bane on Russia’s vast expanses. As of July 26, 183 forest fires were registered nationwide, affecting some 17,670 hectares (more than 43,660 acres).
