Rotary pump successfully implanted in calf’s heart

Russian scientists have successfully implanted a rotary pump into a calf’s heart. The pump functions much like the heart’s left ventricle. This is another step in developing a nationally designed rotary pump, something specialists at the Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs and the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology (MIET) have been working on.
