“Marsonauts” take their first walk on “Mars”

Participants in the Mars-500 experiment successfully landed on the virtual Red Planet on February 12. Russia’s Alexander Smoleyevsky and Italy’s Diego Urbina moved into the landing module. They first set foot on “Mars” February 14. During their “Mars-walk,” the two researchers surveyed the planet’s surface with a magnetometer and collected stones and soil samples.
