Top Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer, have accused Trump of inciting violence and urged Vice President Mike Pence to remove Trump from office using the 25th Amendment, declaring the president incapable of executing his duties.

Sputnik is live from Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, as Democratic lawmakers introduce a bill to impeach US President Donald Trump following the violent clashes that occurred last Wednesday.

Last week, Trump supporters gathered near the Capitol protesting against the certification of Joe Biden's election victory, citing voter fraud. A group of demonstrators breached the building, prompting a mass evacuation of lawmakers. The riot claimed at least five lives overall.
