While the US tops the list of the most affected nations with over 15.3 million cases and 289,000 deaths, the government is struggling to improve the epidemiological situation and move the economy forward by negotiating the terms of a new COVID-19 relief bill and taking steps toward approval of a vaccine against the coronavirus.

The United States Food and Drug Administration is holding an online meeting to consider emergency use authorisation of the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine against COVID-19. The vaccine has already been approved by the UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.

On Wednesday, the US Department of Health and Human Services expressed confidence in having enough contracts with pharmaceutical companies to ensure there will be enough doses to vaccinate all Americans.
