Jacob Blake, who was wanted by police for rape and domestic abuse, was shot in the back by a Wisconsin police officer at close range on 23 August and was subsequently hospitalised.

Violence broke out in Kenosha as hundreds of protesters flooded the streets of the Wisconsin city after Jacob Blake, an African American man, was filmed being shot several times at point-blank range by a white police officer on Sunday.

Some demonstrators torched cars and buildings, and clashed with police, thus forcing law enforcement officers to use tear gas to disperse protesters.

Jacob Blake was shot in the back by police at close range on Sunday, while he was reportedly trying to break up a fight between two women. Eyewitnesses heard at least seven gunshots. Blake, who is currently charged with rape and domestic abuse, is now paralysed from the waist down.
