A medium-strength earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale has shaken Los Angeles some 2 kilometres north of its Pacoima neighbourhood, the United States Geological Survey reported on Thursday. The tremor was registered at a depth of 7.9 km at 11:29:29 (UTC), the USGS said.
Local citizens took to social media to share their experiences of the seismic activity that caught them unawares in the middle of the night.
