New York remains the most affected state in the worst-hit country amid the global pandemic: while there are 2.07 million cases worldwide, the United States has registered almost 640,000 infected, with nearly one third of them (213,000) in the state of New York, and over 111,000 in the Big Apple itself, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Journalists are driving through New York City on Thursday, which currently looks almost entirely deserted amid the severe quarantine measures that have been imposed to stop the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus. According to the city's health department, there are 6,840 confirmed deaths, and 4,059 probable fatalities from the coronavirus.
