House Homeland Security Chair Bennie Thompson requested an emergency meeting of the US Capitol Police Board in reference to US President Donald Trump's "inflammatory language" against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), which resulted in his campaign rally crowd chanting "send her back."

The Thursday document calls for the Police Board to hold an emergency meeting to "re-examine" its approach in how it analyzes the "risk environment, thresholds for enhanced security for certain targeted Members, and information sharing about threat streams with law enforcement."

This is the second request Rep. Thompson has issued to US Capitol Police Board in the past week. The chairman urges the meeting be scheduled prior to July 25.

Following Trump's rally in North Carolina Wednesday night, the hashtag #SendHerBack was trending on Twitter with people tweeting both for and against Omar.

During his speech to his supporters, Trump claimed Omar was anti-Israel and repeated a baseless claim that she married her brother in her second marriage.

On Tuesday, the Democrat-controlled US House of Representatives voted 240-187 to condemn Trump's series of "racist" of tweets posted on Sunday, July 14, that “have legitimized fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color.”
