Massachusetts police and a SWAT team responded to an active shooter at Natick Hotel at 03:00 am local time on Tuesday.

The building was evacuated, while some 75 hotel guests and employees were sheltered in a cafeteria at a local mall.

According to officials, it was initially believed that the suspected shooter was inside the building of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. However, after searching the building it turned out that the suspect had fled the scene.

The authorities have reported that at least one person was injured, although it's not clear whether the injury relates to the shooting. Police are currently searching for multiple suspects.
