The caravan, which the United Nations has said is made up of more than 7,200 Central Americans, continues to advance toward the US-Mexico border, where the migrants hope to receive asylum in the US.

The migrant caravan of asylum-seekers from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador arrived on Mexico's southern border more than a week ago.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that 5,200 US soldiers would be stationed along the United States' border with Mexico by the end of the week.
